Step 1 – Roast Whole Spices at Low Flame

This is really important. Before we grind the whole spices for biryani masala powder, this is important to roast them in a pan at very low flame. So follow these steps below to dry roast the whole spices.

  4. So add 1 TBsp Kashmiri Red Chillies Powder (कशमरी लाल मिर्च पाउडर), 1 TBsp Turmeric Powder (हल्दी पाउडर), 1 TBsp Garlic Powder (लहसुन पाउडर), ½ TBsp Ginger Powder (सौंठ पाउडर).

    NOTE – The Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder is not spicy and is used just to give a nice reddish color to your Biryani. So you should only add the “Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder” and “Turmeric Powder” if you are making the Biryani Masala Powder for Layered or Hyderabadi Biryani. But if you are making the Biryani Masala Powder for Muradabadi or yakhni Biryani, then do not add “Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder” and “Turmeric Powder”.

    You can completely omit adding Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder, if you do not want to.

  5. Mix well and your Perfect Biryani Masala powder is ready. Keep this Biryani Masala Powder in an air-tight container. You can store it for up to 6 months, if kept in air-tight container.

  6. So to give a rough measurement, when you need to make Biryani for 500 Grams Rice, take 1 TBsp or 3 Tsp of this Biryani Masala Powder.
