Learn how to make Chicken Afghani Recipe at home in this easy chicken Afghani recipe. Today I came with super easy way to prepare super delicious Chicken Afghani at your home. This Chicken Afghani recipe is super easy yet finger licking in taste. Just add all ingredients in a bowl, mix with chicken pieces and marinate for an hour.
Then just fry the chicken pieces and cook with marinade itself; and you are done. Try just once this super easy chicken afghani recipe and you will come to know the real taste of afghani chicken.

Step 1 – Marinate the Chicken for Chicken Afghani Recipe
The best Chicken Afghani is the one which come out so soft, creamy and juicy inside that it will melt in your mouth with all the goodness of wonderful spices. To make the Chicken tender in Chicken Afghani dish, marinating plays the major role. So it’s very important to marinate the Chicken with Curd, Cream, Cashew Nuts paste and other spices at least for about 1 Hour. Follow these simple recipe instructions to marinate the chicken for Chicken Afghani Recipe.
- Take 750 grams Chicken and wash it properly.
- Make some slits on Chicken drumsticks or any other bigger flash pieces.
- Take a big bowl and add all the marinating spices into it.
- So add 1 Cup Curd (Dahi) and 1 Cup Cream (Amul Fresh Cream or any other fresh cream).
- Grind 20 to 25 Cashew Nuts with little water to make a fine paste and add this Cashew Nuts Paste to the bowl.
- Add 2 Tsp Ginger Garlic Paste (Adrak Lahsun ka Paste). Prefer to use homemade Ginger Garlic Paste. To make homemade Ginger Garlic paste, take 40% Ginger and 60% Garlic and grind with little water to make a fine paste.
- Add ½ Tsp Garam Masala Powder, 1 Tsp Chat Masala Powder and 1 Tsp Salt (Namak) (or adjust to taste).
- Roast 2 Tsp Dried Fenugreek Leaves (Kasoori Methi) in a pan for 2 to 3 minutes at low flame. Switch off the Gas and let the Kasoori Methi cool in a plate. Then crush with your hands and add to the bowl.
- Grind ½ Cup Coriander leaves and 6 to 7 Nos Green Chillies with little water to make a fine paste. Add this paste into the bowl.
- Add ½ Tsp Black Pepper Powder and 3 Tsp Lemon Juice (Neembu Ras).
- Mix well to make a smooth paste. Beat well so that the Curd and the Cream should come into a uniform texture.
- Then add the Chicken pieces to this marinade mixture and mix well. Make sure to coat the marinade mixture all along the chicken pieces.
- Then keep aside to marinate for about 1 hour. This marination will do all the magic and will make your Afghani Chicken so tender that it will melt in your mouth.

Step 2 – Fry the Chicken
So once we got our Chicken marinated for 1 hour, we have to Fry this Chicken. Follow these simple steps to fry the Chicken for Afghani Chicken recipe.
- Heat enough oil for deep fry in a non-stick frying pan.
- When Oil is hot, take Chicken pieces out of marinade mixture and add to hot Oil one by one. Do not overcrowd.

- Fry the chicken from one side for 4 to 5 minutes at medium flame. When Chicken is fried from one side, flip and fry for 3 to 4 minutes from other side too.
- When Chicken is fried and you get nice light brown covering on outer Chicken layer, take it out and keep aside. Repeat the same process with all the remaining Chicken.
Step 3 – Finally, Let’s See How to Make Chicken Afghani
Time needed: 1 hour
So we have our Chicken marinated and fried, and this is the time to make our yummy Afghani Chicken. We are almost done now, so let’s follow these simple recipe instructions to make this delicious, creamy and mouth melting Chicken Afghani recipe.
- Heat 1 to 2 TBsp oil in a skillet at medium flame.
- When the oil is hot, add the remaining marinade mixture.
- Then gently add the fried Chicken pieces. Mix well and cook covered for about 10 minutes at medium-low flame.
- After 10 minutes, open the lid and mix well.
- Isn’t it so easy? Yes, it’s easy. Your delicious Chicken Afghani is ready, serve hot with Roti, Naan or Paratha.
