Hi Sanjay!
Onion soup is a simple peasant dish. As you want to make it at home, here I can help you to make it in an easy way.

Have a look at the ingredients:-

(if you want to make soup of 5-7 onions) you need- 4 tablespoons of butter, with two quarts of organic broth(the one you like the most), a cup red wine, with ½ cup of sherry wine,2 teaspoons of dried thyme, 1-2 bay leaf,2-3 clove of garlic, 1-2 tablespoon of all-purpose flour. bread, toast, 1 teaspoon of sugar, salt, and pepper to taste.

Here’s the recipe:-

  • Melt the butter in a deep pan. Add the finely chopped onion with a tablespoon of salt and sugar with some pinches of pepper.
  • Cook till onions get golden brown.
  • As the onion starts to caramelize, sprinkle all-purpose flour over onions till it gets mixed. Add red wine, sherry wine, thyme, garlic cloves, and bay leaves to the pot and bring to simmer for about 30 -40minutes.
  • If the soup needs a deeper flavor, add on some flavored soup of your choice.
  • While the soup is getting ready, bake the bread in an oven till it becomes crispy. It takes 10 minutes to get the bread crispy.
  • Take out the soup in a bowl.
  • Place toasted bread over each bowl of soup. Sprinkle cheese all over it.
  • Your restaurant style onion soup is ready to serve.
