Chutneys are what we Bangladeshis live for. It is one our favorite side dishes. Chutneys give a tangy touch to the usual curry and bhaat (rice) we eat and make the flavors lively! The number of chutneys that can be made is outrageous. There are coconut chutneys, mango chutneys, olive chutneys, date chutneys and more. All these varieties of chutneys are very easily available in supermarkets and departmental stores. How ever, nothing can be better than home made chutney. Homemade chutneys are fresh and preservative free. Chutneys go great with parathas and rotis. It is also delicious to have with plain rice and polao. Tomatoes can be found all year round, but most are harvested in winter. This chutney can be stored if one wants to. It will stay fresh for months.
