Thandai is quite a famous North-Indian drink. It is exceptionally known for its cooling effect and health benefits. On Holi festival it is consumed in large quantities as a mark of tradition. It is very famous for its thandi taseer (cooling effect). It is also regarded as an energy drink and contains calcium, iron and carbohydrates. It has got a sweet and spicy touch. Fennel (saunf) and poppy seeds (khus seeds) and rose water (gulaab jal) give 'thandai' its 'thanda' (cool) touch. It also contains milk, almonds, cashew-nuts, cardamom, black pepper, dry rose leaves, saffron and pistachios; which makes this drink very healthy for human body and brain.
