'Tadka dal' is a very spicy recipe. It belongs to North and North-East India. It has a lot of ingredients making its taste a rainbow of flavors. Its main ingredients are split red grams (arhar dal) and split lentils (masoor dal). Red grams are protein rich staple food. They are rich in in lysine, riboflavin, thiamine, amino acids, niacin and iron; they are a very good source of cholesterol-lowering fiber and help in managing blood-sugar disorders because of their high fiber content. They also provide good to excellent amounts of six important minerals, two B-vitamins, and protein and all with virtually no fat and calories. This dish can be eaten with rice or naan or parantha or even bread. The biological value of lentils also increases when combined with wheat or rice; so not only you will get great taste but also great benefits.
