Cracked wheat (Daliya) is considered as a nutritious breakfast for people of every age. Daliya is rich source of iron and fibers. It can be prepared as a dessert too. Sweet cracked daliya is also nutritious and healthier too. Mothers can serve sweet daliya to their kids as a healthier breakfast. Daliya is also good for old people. With being nutritious and healthy daliya can also be considered as a delightful treat. We can also use milk in daliya; adding milk will also make it more nutritious, energizing and wholesome. You can also use jaggery instead of sugar. We use cardamom to enhance the aroma and taste of the dish. Black pepper, salt and cumin seeds are also used. For decoration of daliya and to give it a more appealing look we can also use dry fruits (almonds, cashew nuts, raisins and walnuts). You can enjoy this heavenly treat both as breakfast or dessert.

Preparation Steps for
Sweet Cracked Wheat (Daliya) Recipe
|
-
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and add cardamom (cardamom should be parted into 2 pieces).
-
Now add cracked wheat and roast and stir it till it turns golden brown.

Add water (1½ cups), sugar, black pepper, salt and cumin seeds.

Pressure cook it for 4 whistles.
-
After 4 whistles low the flame and cook for another 15 minutes on low flame.
-
Now switch off flame and take out this daliya in a dish and decorate with dry fruits.

- One can use jaggery in place of sugar.
- You can also use milk. Add one glass of milk and cook again for 10 minutes as milk mix well .
