Phulka Roti- it is also known as soft Indian puffed bread. Everybody knows that each and every person has their own custom according to their religions or their state. This is a special dish from Gujarati family. I can say, almost every day, they include this roti in their lunch or dinner. In some parts of India, it is also known as Chapatti. It is very soft and thin, so it doesn’t demand more efforts to digest. People in Gujarat used to eat this chapatti with any kind of curry or Daal. Thickness and size of roti can vary as per choice of chef. When chapatti is being put on direct heat, it puffed very nicely as you can see in my image also. To make chapatti, we need to make the dough which is made up of water, oil, wheat flour and little bit sad. Try and enjoy this soft roti with your choice of curry.

Preparation Steps for
Phulka Roti- Indian Soft puffed Bread Recipe
|
-
In one large bowl, add wheat flour, salt, oil and lukewarm water.
-
Mix them well and form a soft dough. Knead this dough for 2 to 3 minutes.
-
After kneading it, just grease it with oil and let it rest for 5 minutes or so.
-
Now put your flat bottom pan or griddle on stove.
-
Now make small size of balls from the dough. I prefer to make walnut sized balls.
-
Press the small sized balls with your both hands' palm and flatten them.
-
Now dust these balls with wheat flour from both sides.
-
Take a rolling board and roll one flatten ball with the help of rolling pan into 1/8 thick and 4 inches large in diameter. The proper circle should be made.
-
Place rolled chapatti on the heated pan.
-
When you see bubbles, just turn the side of your chapatti.
-
Allow it to cook for about 40 to 45 seconds on the other side.
-
At this time, your chapatti will start puffing, and when you observe brown spots on it, just take it off from the pan.
-
Now gently apply clarified butter on it.
-
You can finish with other small balls and make soft chapattis by repeating this procedure again.
-
Enjoy this soft chapatti with any of your favorite curry.
