Pav bhaji is a very famous West Indian dish from the land of Maharashtra. This is a popular fast food in Mumbai. You can easy see a Pav bhaji wala in each street of Mumbai. Pav bhaji is the combination of bhaji and pav. Bhaji is a potato based curry. Pav is actually the buns. If you are not living in India, you may have to go to a nearby Asian Indian store to get the 'Pav Bhaji Masala' (pav bhaji spice) that is the special spice to bring the flavor. Ingredients for Pav Bhaji Recipe
  1. Pav (buns) - 12 nos
  2. Tomatoes - 5 nos, chopped
  3. Onions - 2 nos, chopped
  4. Green chillies - 2 nos, finely chopped
  5. Coriander (dhania) powder - 3 tsp
  6. Pav Bhajji masala - 4 tsp
  7. Cumin (jeera) powder - 2 tsp
  8. Chilli powder - 2 tsp
  9. Lemon Juice - 2 tsp
  10. Ginger - 1 inch piece
  11. Garlic - 2 cloves (optional)
  12. Coriander leaves - ½ cup, for garnish
  13. Capsicum - ½ cup
  14. Cabbage - ½ cup
  15. Carrot - ½ cup
  16. Potatoes - 3 nos
  17. Peas - 1 cup
  18. Beans - ½ cup
  19. Cauliflower - 1 cup
  20. Oil - 2 tsp
  21. Salt - to taste

Preparation Steps for Pav Bhaji Recipe
  1. Heat oil in a flat frying pan on medium heat. When the oil is hot, add the onions and for a minute until the onions are translucent.
  2. Now, add tomatoes, salt, coriander (dhania) powder, cumin (jeera) powder and chilli powder and fry for few minutes till the oil floats on top.
  3. Steam potatoes, peas, carrot, beans, cabbage, capsicum, cauliflower separately and add them to the onion mixture to form the bhaji mixture.
  4. Add one cup of water to the bhaji mixture and cook the mixture. When the mixture is starts boiling, then with the help of a potato masher keep mashing the mixture till all the vegetables in bhaji cooked thoroughly.
  5. FOR PAV: Slit open the pavs from the middle, apply butter inside the pav and place them on a pre-heated frying pan. When the pav gets golden brown from the inside take them off.
  6. Your pav bhaji is ready, garnish the bhaji with coriander & lemon juice and serve hot with pav.

since we are jus going to mash all the other veggies except onions and it enough to just boil them and mash them...or is it necessary to chop them before boiling
