Preparation Steps for Onion Papad (Poppadom) Curry Recipe
  1. First take 3 papads from ready made packet and roast them. Put it aside in one plate.
  2. Put your pan on heat on medium flame and add oil. After 3 minutes, add cumin seeds and when it starts spluttering, add chopped onion.
  3. Simmer it for 5 to 7 minutes and stir in between. Onion should be transparent. After that, add chopped tomatoes.
  4. Again simmer it for 5 minutes. Stir in between. When tomato and onion become soft, add all spices step by step.
  5. Add garlic-ginger paste. Stir it. Add turmeric powder, salt, red chili powder, coriander powder and cumin powder.
  6. Simmer it for another 3 minutes. Now break the roasted papad roughly by using your hands and add these rough pieces of papad in pan.
  7. Add some water and again simmer it for 3 minutes.
  8. Turn off gas and remove pan from it. Now garnish it with coriander leaves and enjoy this dish with Paratha (flatten bread) or chapatti.
  9. If you want to enjoy this dish in typical Indian style, then eat this curry with raw onion.

Additional Tips:

  1. Be careful while adding salt. Add less salt than you usually add because the papad which we used for making curry might already have salt in them.
  2. You can add roasted papad in curry or if you want, you can also use it without roasting.
