Mutter Paneer Recipe is a very common and widely used Indian recipe. Mutter paneer recipe involves cottage cheese cooked with tomatoes, onions, green peas and spices. See the preparation steps for mutter paneer recipe below.
Ingredients for Mutter Paneer Recipe
  1. Cooked green peas - 1 cup
  2. Paneer (Cheese) - 200 grams, cut into medium pieces.
  3. Poppey seeds - 1 tsp
  4. Tomatoes - 1 nos
  5. Onion - 1 nos
  6. Green chilli - 1 nos
  7. Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tsp
  8. Black pepper powder - ¼ tsp
  9. Bay leaves - 2 nos
  10. Cloves - 4 nos
  11. Cumin powder (Roasted) - 1 tsp
  12. Coriander powder - ½ tsp
  13. Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  14. Turmeric Powder - ½ tsp
  15. Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
  16. Green coriander leaves - for garnish
  17. Vegetable oil - 6 tsp
  18. Salt - to taste

Preparation Steps for Mutter Paneer Recipe
  1. Heat oil in a skillet (kadai) over medium heat. When the oil is hot, add Paneer (Cheese) to it and fry over medium heat until the paneer is light brown. Keep turning the pieces while frying. Be very careful while frying paneer splatters while frying.
  2. Take the onion, tomatoes and green chilli in a grinder (cut into pieces) and grind it to make a fine paste. Mix the ginger-garlic paste to it.
  3. In the remaining oil, fry the bay leaves and cloves for 30 secs.
  4. Now add the grinded paste to it and fry over medium heat until the paste is golden brown and the oil starts separating from the mixture.
  5. When the oil starts separating the mixture, Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, black pepper powder, poppey seeds and salt. Mix it well and add the green peas. Fry it for 2-3 minutes more minutes.
  6. Add water just enough to make the thick gravy and bring the gravy to boil.
  7. While the gravy is boiling, add paneer pieces and stir well. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes till the peas are done.
  8. Your mutter paneer is ready, garnish with chopped green coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
