Preparation Steps for
Idli recipe

Wash the rice and urad dal separately properly

Soak rice and the urad dal separately in water, for about 5-6 hours.

After 5-6 hours of soaking, grind the soaked rice and urad dal in a mixer and make a smooth paste of them and set the paste aside for about 8 hours.

Now, add the baking powder and salt to this paste and mix properly.

Grease the cavities of idli stand with oil and pour the prepared idli mixture into the cavities of idli stand.

Keep this idli stand into the steam for a few minutes either in a cooker or a closed vessel.

Idli should be ready in few minutes; when ready, take the idli stand out of vessel.

Take the idlis out of stand carefully using a spoon.

Do the same for all remaining mixture and your idlis are ready.

Serve idli in pairs with sambhar and coconut chutney.
