Cheese straws recipe is a very popular South Indian appetizer recipe. Cheese straws are made with cheddar cheese and a little cayenne pepper. Cheese straws and similar cheese sticks and twists. Cheese straws recipe is a famous appetizer recipe but they can also be used as snacks with hot tea or cold drinks. It’s very easy to prepare cheese straws. See how to prepare cheese straws at home.
Ingredients for Cheese Straws Recipe
  1. Butter - 14 tsp at room temperature
  2. All purpose flour - 2 cups
  3. Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
  4. Cheddar cheese - 3 cups
  5. Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  6. Salt - a little pinch, or to taste

Preparation Steps for Cheese Straws Recipe
  1. Take the butter and cheese in container of a food processor and a add flour, red chilli powder, salt, and Worcestershire sauce. Cover and blend thoroughly.
  2. If a food processor is not available, then put the flour, salt and Red chilli powder in a bowl add cheese, butter, and Worcestershire sauce. Blend these thoroughly with the help of two knives or a pastry blender
  3. Wrap the above prepared dough in a waxed paper or a plastic sheet and let it chill in refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  4. After one hour, take the chilled dough out of refrigerator and Sprinkle the flour on a flat surface and roll the dough on this flat surface to about 1 mm thickness.
  5. Cut into strips, and gently twist to make it look like straws. Arrange the strips on 1 or 2 ungreased baking sheets.
  6. Now preheat the oven to 300° and bake the straws in preheated 300° oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the straws are crisp and lightly browned.
  7. When done, take the cheese straws out of oven and let them cool.
  8. Your crispy cheese straws are ready, serve with your favorite sauce. It makes about 5 to 6 dozens of cheese straws.

i found the recipe made a drier form of dough so i added more butter and for a spicier taste more chile powder and sharp cheese.
