Flan is one kind of dessert form. There are countless variations of the Flan which are present. Today, I have tried my hands on Carrot flan. Flan looks like baked custard. Generally, flan is made up of heavy cream, milk, sugar and egg. You can add a different kind of extract for amazing flavor. In this recipe, gelatin works as a binder. Flan is usually topped with caramel cream and brown sugar but as today we are trying to make flan from vegetable- carrot, we will use slices of tomato and coriander leaves for garnishing. You can also make flan by using different vegetables like zucchini , sweet corn and broccoli. The color of your carrot flan should be very attractive and it all depends on your selection of carrot. Always select carrot with slightly orange color not red color. You can use different types of cheese for this recipe, I have used goat cheese here. Enjoy this Carrot Flan. You can give your desired shape to flan by using various molds.
Ingredients for Carrot Flan Recipe
  1. Carrot (peeled) - 350 grams
  2. Goat cheese - 1 cup
  3. Egg - 2 pair
  4. Heavy cream - 1 1/2 cup
  5. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  6. Minced ginger - 1/4 tsp
  7. Salt - 1/4 tsp
  8. Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
  9. Butter - 2 Tbsp
  10. Tomato - 2 slices
  11. Fresh coriander leaves - 1/4 cup

Preparation Steps for Carrot Flan Recipe
  1. With knife, cut carrot in thick slices on cutting board.
  2. Take one saucepan, add water in it and bring it to boil. Add somewhat salt.
  3. Add slices of carrot in salted water. Boil them for 10 minutes or so.
  4. Take cheese and crush it with hands.
  5. With a food processor, blend boiled carrot and add crushed cheese in it.
  6. Make thick puree. Now add salt, eggs, cumin seeds, heavy cream and pepper powder.
  7. With the help of wire whisk, beat it properly till puree becomes very smooth in texture.
  8. Preheat the oven to 320 °F.
  9. Grease all molds with butter and then divide this thick puree in all greased molds.
  10. Arrange these molds in baking pan and add hot water in baking pan.
  11. Cover this baking pan and bake until they are set properly. Baking process will take approximately 30 to 40 minutes. You can check in between by inserting toothpick in it.
  12. Remove from oven and unmold them. Garnish with tomato slice and fresh coriander leaves.
 

Additional Tips:

  1. If you want, you can also use fennel seeds instead of cumin seeds.
