In the family of food, sauce and chutney are semi-solid or creamy foods which are used in preparation of other foods. The difference between sauce and chutney is that the sauce is a boiled or processed mixture of the ingredients whereas chutney is raw grounded mixture of the ingredients. Sauce can be preserved for long time than chutney. Chutney is a relish and sauce can be used as dressing, condiment, dip and in desserts too. Sauce is a Latin word which means salty and chutney was derived from a Sanskrit word. Chutney can be made of almost any veggie, fruit, spices and herbs. Sauces are very essential element in all cuisines all over the world.
