Salsa is called sauce in Spanish but in Latin it is pronounced as salsa which means salty. Salsa can be made of onion, tomatillos, tomatoes, chillies, cilantro, lime juice etc. It can be red or green in color. It is used as dip for tortilla chips and garnishing for tacos, tostadas, burritos and other Mexican recipes. It is usually paired with sour cream or guacamole. In Mexican cuisines salsa is considered as freshly made sauce. The jarred sauces are not considered as salsa. Italian, Caribbean and Moroccan cultures have a form for salsa but actually not called salsa. There are more salsa dips like mango salsa, pineapple salsa, peach salsa and corn salsa.
